Using the daily data collected through GeoPoll's Media Measurement Service, GeoPoll has analyzed the top TV stations in Ghana for Q3 2016. We examined both ratings and share for the top stations in Ghana. The below chart shows the average ratings for the top 10 stations during the peak hours, from 19:00 to 22:00.

GIBA Partnership and Top TV Stations in Ghana, Q3 2015

GeoPoll is pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association in a move that will allow all GIBA members to access GeoPoll and Kantar Media's industry-leading audience data. Kantar-GeoPoll Media Measurement is the only provider of next-day ratings for TV, radio, and print in Ghana and this partnership will give all GIBA members access to KGMM's quarterly ratings data. This announcement comes at a pivotal time for audience measurement in Ghana, as the country will soon be undergoing an analogue-to-digital switchover of TV signals, which will introduce new stations and increase competition among broadcasters.

Ghana Tunes in for Close African Cup of Nations Final

For the past month, African football teams have been playing in the African Cup of Nations, the equivalent of the World Cup for the African continent. The final game was Sunday February 8th, between Ghana and Cote D'Ivoire. It was a dramatic match, with Cote D'Ivoire winning 9-8 in a penalty shootout following a scoreless game. Through GeoPoll's Media Measurement Service we examined the viewership numbers for the final match, finding that nearly 3.7 million Ghanaians tuned into the event.

Top TV Channels in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania

Last month we published the top ten channels in Ghana, compiled from the data included in our new Audience Measurement Service. In May, we collected ratings from more countries, and as our Audience Measurement Service expands we will continue to release highlights on TV ratings from African nations including Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Uganda, and more. Each month we will share some insights we've found, whether it be the top ten channels of the past month or week, or a more detailed look into one channel or one day of television viewership. Next week we will be releasing World Cup viewership numbers from several African Nations, including Ghana and Nigeria, who have teams playing in the World Cup. We expect to have some interesting findings on TV viewership in Africa over the next few weeks, so keep checking here for updates!
