Using the daily data collected through Kantar GeoPoll Media Measurement, GeoPoll analyzed the top radio stations in Rwanda from May 1st – July 31st. We examined both ratings* and share** for the top stations in Rwanda. The below chart shows the average ratings for the top 10 channels during the day from 06:00 to 22:00.

As it is clearly indicated in the above chart, Radio Rwanda has the highest listenership across the market throughout the day. Radio Salus and Kiss FM have similar ratings especially during the morning hours. Radio 10 peaks mid-morning till midday while Radio Salus peaks between 10:00 to 12:00. 

GeoPoll also examined average share over the entire period from May 1st – July 31st. GeoPoll found that Radio Rwanda had the highest share, with over 50% of the audience share on average.  Radio Rwanda is followed by Radio Salus and Kiss FM who have audience shares of 10.2% and 8.8% respectively. Flash and Radio 10 have similar audience shares at around 6.2% each. Full results are below:

*Rating is the proportion watching a station out of the total sample at that time, multiplied by 100. If 50 people out of 500 surveyed watched Station X, the rating for Station X would be (50/500)*100) = 10. In Uganda, GeoPoll’s Media Measurement Panel includes a sample of over 500 respondents for every time period. 

**Share is the proportion watching Station X, out of all those watching at that time. This is equal to the proportion watching a station during a given time divided by the total number watching at that time.
